Fattoria San Lorenzo – Il San Lorenzo Marche Bianco – 2009
Masterful work from the Marches, a Verdicchio out of category in every respect produced only when it is “its” moment, this bottle is one of the reasons for the fame that has brought this vine to the top in the world. Obtained from very old vines located in a specific parcel with superlative altitude and exposure where the marine air currents arrive in conjunction with the sun’s rays in a totally balanced way that in perfect years the grapes ripen at stratospheric levels. The vinification is carried out spontaneously in cement tanks with the use of indigenous yeasts without temperature control, followed by refinement on the lees both in steel and in cement for 110 months before resting in the bottle for at least 10 months. Only 2400 bottles, authentic natural white wine in all respects but with gustatory power and sensations of total pleasure for every single detail perceived by the citrus aromas of lemongrass and apricot that evolve into notes of honey, on the palate it is fat and opulent with a soft incredible and acidity of good persistence but not at all poignant. A true masterpiece!

Description
Around Italy we are dealing with authentic winemaking marvels, nor the example of Fattoria San Lorenzo, the cellar you don’t expect. Located in the heart of the Marche region in Montecarotto, one of the Castelli di Jesi, one of the two most prestigious denominations of Verdicchio and a fascinating historical and cultural place. Since 1995 Natalino Crognaletti has taken over the reins of the family business already active since the time of his grandfather Enrico who produced wine and his father Gino who began to select the best clones of each variety. Today it manages 24 hectares continuing the teachings handed down for generations, respect for the environment with the use of organic materials in the vineyard where Verdicchio, Montepulciano, Lacrima di morro d’Alba and Syrah are grown among the main ones. Very rustic and territorial wines thanks to meticulous refinements and little intervention with the help of the oenologist Hartmann Donà, a lot of maturation on the lees for the whites, long extractions for the reds and use of cement together with old barrels for the refinements. Dynamism and personality create an exuberant fusion that characterizes this reality.
