Gump Hof – Pinot Nero Praesulis – 2019

One of the most important international grape varieties with refined aromas, the Pinot Noir, has found in these heights the ideal climate in which to exalt its characteristics. We are located to the south of the Eisack valley, at an altitude of around 550 metres, where the steep slopes and limestone soils, together with the mountain climate, provide great complexity. After careful manual selection, the grapes are cold macerated and fermented for a fortnight without clarification or filtration. It is then aged for 12 months in barriques before being bottled and left to rest. The result is a wine with good body and organoleptic complexity, with fruity hints that expresses a good drinkability thanks to its fresh minerality with elegant touches.

Description

In the oenological vocabulary, Trentino Alto Adige is synonymous with freshness and fragrance, in a region with a mountainous terrain rich in lakes and valleys bathed in an Alpine climate. With over two centuries of history, the Gump hof winery is located in the Isarco valley, in Novale di Presule, and has always belonged to the Prackwieser family, who have made it a point of reference. A few hectares of land, good altitudes, excellent exposure of the vines, large temperature differences between day and night: these are the elements on which Markus Prackwieser, after numerous trips to France, has based his work. A philosophy with a personal style, a combination of experience and tradition, starting with the choice of typical grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc, manual work and the use of modern technology in the cellar. The quality of the wines has been handed down and enhanced by respect for the environment and ageing in rooms dug out of the rock have consolidated their astonishment. A synthesis that only passion and work could create.
