Giovanni Rosso – Barolo Vignarionda Ester Canale Rosso – 2018

Barolo Vignarionda sums up the entire history of the Canale-Rosso family of Serralunga d’Alba. Parcel planted in 1946 by the current owner’s uncle Tommaso Canale, where after years of sacrifices, losses, in the 2000s the vineyard returned to the Rosso family. Vignarionda is considered the best vineyard in all of Serralunga and probably in the entire Barolo area, where the strategic location of full south and soils rich in rock and blue limestone mean that the wines here have a power and structure unmatched by any other parcel. It is a vineyard that has deep and compact soils, which needs time, giving extraordinary results of great elegance and austerity, but above all they are wines with a slow evolution thanks to the hard tannins, wines that have no time limit. The Rosso family inherited 1 hectare of this parcel, but 0.80 hectares are still the original 1946 plantings from which about 1,800 bottles of this Great Barolo are produced. The wine has aged in large oak barrels for about 30 to 36 months. A majestic wine, where there is no need to explain the majesty of this wine, son of a rich history with very deep roots.
