Giovanni Rosso – Barolo Cerretta – 2017

Barolo Cerretta comes from the vineyard having the same name, located in the northern part of Serralunga commune, it has always been considered a great vineyard and it has been mentioned by the most historical and important producers of Barolo. What distinguishes this cru from the other mentions of Serralunga, is just the soil: here there are layers of agglomerates slightly rich in clay and limestone, as opposed to rocky marls, giving wines more feminine sensations and sweeter tannins. In this case the vines are about 30 years old and the wine was aged for 24 months in large French oak casks, plus two years in bottle.
A Barolo with more immediate aromas and silky tannins but with a long persistence in the mouth.
A great bottle which plays all on refinement.

Description

Rosso family has been established in Serralunga for more than a century owning 10 hectares of vineyards divided among the best cru, among which Vigna Rionda, Cerretta and Serra stand out.
The real qualitative leap occurred in the 1980’s when Giovanni joined the winery and restructured most of the vineyards with modern planting systems in order to produce only high quality wines.
Since 2001 his son Davide, very young but already rich in experiences in many wine realities, takes the reins of the winery respecting a rigorous and traditional style.
Giovanni Rosso’s wines are among the most faithful expressions of the Serralunga territory.
