Gerard Perseval – Champagne Privilège 1er Cru Brut

One of the most renowned labels of the whole range, Privilege is one of the most refined Champagne expressions born from the mind of its producer. A Blanc de Noirs produced by blending 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Pinot Meunier coming from vineyards around Chamery with soils rich in sand mixed to clay/limestone in an excellent south-eastern exposure for delicate but firm wines. Vinification is done in steel tanks with the addition of 30% of Vin de reserve of the two previous vintages, subsequently aged on lees for 36 months before disgorging. The result is a perfect union of the two grapes for a bubble with intense fruity aromas which is very powerful and fresh in a good balance, the finish is dry with good persistence.

Description

Among the countless maisons of the Champagne region there are small producers that after some years do not pass unnoticed anymore. Gerard Perseval’s house is one of them, since 1980 it is located at the foot of Reims mountain near the village of Chamery, an important Premier cru of Pinot Noir, managed by Gerard himself together with his wife and children. In 20 hectares, besides Pinot Noir, they also cultivate Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier by following a simple but winning philosophy: care of the soil with organic materials, vinification both in steel tanks and in wood with long aging in bottle and classic blends which are different every year from the previous ones. A production of about 12000 bottles per year in which the creation of stratospheric bubbles is the base of their success.
