Cigliuti – Barbera d’Alba Campass – 2017

The Cigliuti family has been producing wine since the 1930s in the Serraboella area in the municipality of Neive, but only since the 1960s have the first bottles of Barbaresco been bottled and sold. The qualitative leap of the company can be seen with the entry of Renato, born in 1938, since he was a child he worked in the vineyards, he was among the first to have a qualitative productive mentality, selecting and thinning the bunches, in a historical moment where he was not absolutely typical to throw or waste products. Today the winery is always managed by Renato, his wife Dina and his two daughters, a real family situation, where they are the first to control every step from the vineyard to the cellar always with the same philosophy: to produce little but well! The vineyards of the winery are located for the most part in the Serraboella cru and the Bricco di Neive, a rather complex area being one of the oldest at a geological level in the Barbaresco area with soils rich in limestone.
Barbera d’Alba Campass comes from 30-year-old plants in the Serraboella cru, located to the south east, where they are aged in used barriques. This is a full, round, creamy Barbera, well-integrated freshness and acidity and intense aromas of ripe fruit. Absolutely gastronomic wine!
