Charlot Père et Fils – Champagne Cuvée Réserve Brut Nature

The Cuvée Réserve Brut Nature is made with mainly Pinot Meunier grapes and a small percentage of Chardonnay in the commune of Chatillon sur Marne with 40-year-old vines. The wine underwent spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks and barriques, and then underwent a second refermentation in the bottle for 36 months before disgorgement. Little sulfur and very low yields make this entry Champagne from the Charlot Maison great. A very enjoyable sparkling wine, clean, technical, with a crisp bubble that leaves a nice softness in the mouth and scents of honey and quince. Simple, but at the same time perfect. Exquisite.

Description

Charlot Père et Fils is a really small winery, but one of the most innovative discoveries in Champagne. We are in the Marne Valley, and the maison cultivates only 4.5 hectares under family management. In fact, the project was born in 2009 when Pierre took over his grandmother’s winery, bringing with him a completely different agricultural approach inspired by biodynamic viticulture. Vineyards with an average age of around 30 years, all facing south and planted for the bulk to Pinot Meunier and the remainder to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Even in the winery, the approach is avant-garde: spontaneous fermentations started in steel tanks and finished in wooden barrels, neutral yeasts for frothing and very low sulfite level. A young and innovative winery where the quality of the wines is fabulously high! Great discovery!
