Calera – Pinot Nero Central Coast – 2016

1971 Josh Jensen after a trip to Burgundy realizes that to obtain excellent results from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay he has to look for soils rich in limestone, so after two years of research throughout California he buys land on the Central Coast precisely in Mount Harlan, the vineyards are at 700 meters above sea level and thanks to an ideal microclimate and soils, the wines produced are extraordinarily “Burgundian”.
In 1975 he planted his first 10 hectares of Pinot Noir separated in various plots, vinifying them separately to enhance the true territoriality to the maximum.
Central Coast Pinot Noir is an assembly of the best vineyards, an extraordinarily expressive and elegant wine, structure and balance in a single bottle. You will not find the classic woody American Pinot Noir but a wine rich in fruit, concentration and freshness!
