Cadia – Barolo Monvigliero – 2018

One of the most significant Cru in the Barolo area, Monvigliero has always been considered a first class vineyard in the commune of Verduno since its discovery, mainly because of the magnificent southern exposure of its soils. With only a few hectares of property that enjoy excellent exposure, the Nebbiolo in sandy soils gives powerful wines of freshness and acidity. The grapes ferment in contact with the skins for 7-8 days in steel tanks, then mature for 4 months in steel before being transferred to French oak barrels for 36 months. The resulting wine pervades with freshness, fruit aromas with herbaceous touches typical of the area, noble and elegant tannins and predominant acidity.

Description

Cadia summarises the family passion of several generations that have followed one another over the years with the sole intention of transmitting the essence of their land. The winery is located in the commune of Roddi, one of the communes of Barolo, at the top of the hill “Cadia” from which it takes its name, which thanks to its south-eastern exposure is optimal for the quality of the grapes. In 12 hectares of vineyards distributed over several parcels of land in the area, in which the Monvigliero vineyard stands out, local grapes such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Pelaverga are grown, among which there are also several hazelnut groves of their own. Since their birth in 1913, they have relied on tradition in their wine-making vision, which has been affirmed by the current owner Bruno in 1996 until today where each of their wines is the result of strength and constant commitment.
