Allegrini – Valpolicella Superiore – 2019
It has always been one of the most classic wines of Veneto, it is made from a blend of 75% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta grapes coming from the town of Fumane, in Valpolicella Classica, known as the most suitable area. With 32 year old vines on well-drained calcareous/clayey soils, the grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in steel for 9 days. Malolactic fermentation and aging continue in casks for 12 months in both barriques and large Slavonian oak barrels before bottling. The result is a wine which reflects its area of origin, aromas of red fruit evolving into spice with good structure and good drinkability with a long and persistent finish. A good way to start getting to know this splendid place.

Description
The history of the Allegrini family goes back centuries in one of the most sensational landscapes of the Valpolicella. The name already means “The valley of the many wineries” between Lake Garda and Verona, with landscapes rich in waterways and limestone soils where we find grapes and unique winemaking techniques that give rise to iconic wines such as Amarone and Recioto. Since the sixteenth century they are located in Fumane dedicating themselves from the beginning to the cultivation and production of wine, however the real activity begins with Giovanni Allegrini, a true lover of his work with the only goal of transmitting the essence of his wines “from one barrel to another”. The turning point came with his sons Franco and Marilisa who, following their father’s footsteps, in complete synergy improved the whole production system, asserting themselves and expanding at an international level. Today they own more than 100 hectares of land in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, divided into various municipalities, where they cultivate both the native and historical varieties of the region such as Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella and allochthonous vines such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with new farming systems. Trying new challenges dictated by the aim of qualitative perfection, they have combined the traditional style with avant-garde techniques from the winemaking process with the introduction of barriques, through the reduction of the aging period to the technique of Ripasso and drying of the grapes. A set of factors which made them a flagship winery of Veneto where now drinking one of their wines is not just an experience but a real guarantee.
