Vietti – Barbera d’Alba Vigna Vecchia Scarrone – 2017

We are talking about the end of 1800’s, when Carlo Vietti founded the winery in the small town of Castiglione Falletto, understanding since the beginning the great potentialities that this territory could have. In 1919 his son Mario started producing the first wines. However the history of the winery was marked by the great enologist Alfredo Currado, the first ever to vinify single vineyards and in 1961 Barolo “Rocche di Castiglione” was released on the market.
Today the winery is one of the most important ones of the whole Barolo area, in fact in 2016 it was bought by the American Krause Holdings, allowing the family to enlarge their patrimony while continuing to produce wines of great territoriality and value.
Produced with grapes from the oldest part of the Scarrone vineyard, located in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto. The work in the vineyard is obsessive, only the best bunches are selected to obtain a wine of excellent quality. A bottle that will make you understand the difference between a normal Barbera and a great Barbera! 2017, an “early” vintage, a little dry which however allowed the vine to develop fully, giving us full and great wines structure, and obviously very generous from the point of view of drinkability.
