Van Volxem – Riesling Gottesfuß Alte Reben – 2015
Located in Wiltingen, in the valley carved by the Saar river, the vineyards in this area were planted for the first time in the third century on the best slate slopes, after four generations of the Van Volxem family the company since 2000 has been in the hands of the entrepreneur Roman Niewodniczanski who brought the name of the company to very high levels.
Late harvest, very low yields, loyalty to the territory are the three cardinal principles of the winery which today boasts 65 hectares in the best areas of the Saar with old plants on the loose.
Gottesfub is a dense, deep, mineral wine with great acidity coming from one of the best Gran Cru in the area, from plants with 120 years of life resistant to very steep slopes. The grapes carry out spontaneous fermentation followed by long maturations and aging in wood for about 12 months.
