Tramin – Troy Chardonnay Riserva – 2016

Tramin is one of the most respectable and qualitative cooperatives in South Tyrol. Located in Termeno, it was founded in 1861 by the parish priest Christian Schrott as a small agricultural project precisely to support the economy of its fellow villagers. Today 160 families give grapes to the cooperative. The flagship wine of the winery is Gewurztraminer, an aromatic grape variety that has always been present in the valleys of South Tyrol and where thanks to the wonderful Alpine-Mediterranean micro-lima it is able to give wines with very sweet and fruity aromas, but in the mouth it manages to be rather dry and rich in acidity. The winery is especially famous for its Epokale wine, the highest expression of Gewurztraminer, so much so that it was rated 100 points by Parker and the symbolic wine of Italy. The wines of the Tramin winery, both white and red, are an absolute guarantee, where precision and quality are the cornerstones of this project.
The White “Troy” is the latest wine created by the winery, Chardonnay grapes grown at high altitudes, it is produced in only 3000 bottles. Tramin wanted to enhance the best characteristics of this vine, one of the most famous in the world, in fact the wine lies 11 months on its lees in barrique and 22 months in steel tanks. A full, complex wine that has an enormous aging capacity of even more than 20 years.
