Sara Vezza – Barolo Ravera – 2016

Defined as the vintage of the century, 2016 proved to be climatically perfect for the ripening of Nebbiolo resulting in iconic wines of structure, elegance and substance. We are in Novello, among the most extended Cru we find Ravera, a wide hill with different slopes and exposures. Thanks to the southern slopes of vineyards, a ventilated climate and a soil rich in clay, full bodied and long lasting wines are produced. Barolos here express a vibrant depth with spicy and earthy aromas, accompanied by dry tannins and marked by a proper freshness and complexity. This wine is the representation of an all-female style, with class and structure surrounded by a persuasive and enveloping bouquet in the full expression of the territory.

Description

Daughter of winemaker Josetta Saffirio, Sara Vezza represents the 5th generation of the family and one of the new female challenges in the world of wine. A daring woman and above all a Barolo producer in Monforte d’Alba, she began her adventure at the age of 19 when she decided to take the reins of the company with the support and trust of her parents. With her ideas she took the family business to new heights, extending the property where they cultivate native varieties including Nebbiolo and Barbera together with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Murazzano area for the production of sparkling wines. Introducing biodynamics and the eco-sustainability of the territory in 2004, they have established an innovative and deeply respectful path, creating a true natural oasis in synergy towards the search for quality. An independent but parallel and complementary path, made up of initiatives without denying the past, enriching it with the adoption of modern techniques in the cellar accompanied by refinements resulting from research and experimentation. Her cultural commitment is carving out a future of great satisfaction.
