Sara Vezza – Alta Langa – 2020

With foresight, Sara Vezza invested in the purchase of 16 hectares in the Alta Langa region, a cooler and wooded area where the production of quality sparkling wines is growing more and more. The vineyards for this bubbly come from the village of Murazzano, over 700 meters in altitude and sand-rich soils, perfect conditions for producing excellent Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the classic method style. Here we find the blend of both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, vinified in steel tanks and aged on their lees for 40 months. Here again we find an excellent example of Alta Langa, very balanced with fine, floral aromas, characterful, rather crisp on the finish.

Daughter of winemaker Josetta Saffirio, Sara Vezza represents the 5th generation of the family and one of the new female challenges in the world of wine. A bold woman and above all a producer of Barolo in Monforte d’Alba, she began her adventure at the age of 19 when she decided to take the reins of the winery with the support and trust of her parents. With her ideas she takes the family business to new heights, extending the property where they grow native varieties including Nebbiolo and Barbera along with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Murazzano area for the production of bubbles. Introducing biodynamics and eco-sustainability in the area since 2004, they have established an innovative and deeply respectful path by creating a true natural oasis in synergy towards the pursuit of quality. An independent but parallel and complementary road, made by initiatives without disowning the past, enriching it with the adoption of modern techniques in the cellar accompanied by refinements fruit of research and experimentation. A cultural commitment hers that is carving out a future of great satisfaction.
