Salvioni – Rosso di Montalcino – 2018

Salvioni’s wines are an institution when it comes to Tuscany. We are in the heart of Montalcino, a very small family business that has cultivated only 4 hectares of Sangiovese vineyard since 1980, with one of the most privileged exposure, i.e. south-east, giving an extra freshness and edge to the wines. The philosophy of the winery is very concrete and simple: only great wines are made, and great Brunellis !! …. If the quality conditions are not present, everything is downgraded to Rosso di Montalcino.
The style is to use indigenous yeasts in fermentation and large oak barrels for refinement. For this Rosso di Montalcino it is noted how the company has a more than high quality style, it uses the same Sangiovese vines as the Brunello, simply downgraded to only one year of aging in barrel and one year in bottle. What can I say .. to be a minor wine, it is a very great wine !! A full, persuasive wine, with such an enveloping aroma of cherry and tobacco, but in the finish a great freshness synonymous with great aging capacity and which fully reflects the fresher and more traditional 2018 vintage.
