Roberto Voerzio – Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata – 2019

Among Roberto’s fortunes is that of having been able to acquire hectares planted with vines in the most renowned vineyards in La Morra for the quality of nebbiolo, Rocche dell’Annunziata turns out to be the most important not only for its full southern exposure but also for its sand and silt soils that give a disarming elegance. Vineyard planted at a high density according to his philosophy with 8000 vines per hectare with a production per plant of 500/700 grams of grapes, vinification is carried out with the use of indigenous yeasts in steel containers for 15 days, aging is done in used barriques and 20 hl barrels for 24 months, after this period the wine rests first 8 months in steel then 8 months in bottle. This is one of the best successful versions of this Barolo in which the details of every single element are captured, starting with very fresh aromas of red fruit that over time give way to spicy and floral notes, in the mouth it is noble and of vigorous acidity accompanied by round and pleasant tannins. Now or in 10 years it makes no difference, just drink it!

Description

Roberto Voerzio, an icon of avant-garde viticulture in the Langhe. His style is unique, his love for wine and the land have led him to produce grandiose wines. The facts speak for themselves, 8000 vines per hectare, super bunch selection, aggressive thinning, 500 grams of grapes per plant ( traditionally Piedmontese winemakers harvest about 2 kilograms). His work in the vineyards is more than manic, his plants are immediately recognizable by their cleanliness and tidiness, and the philosophy of using only organic products and manure for the well-being of the vines does not go unnoticed at all.
He founded his winery in the 1980s by buying the best vineyards with the most beautiful exposures, producing limited quantities for each cru with amazing and unparalleled power and structure.
Brunate, La Serra,Cerequio, Rocche dell’Annunziata and Fossati are the namesake vineyards where he vinifies in purity the various cru, all located in La Morra and always considered the most prestigious for the quality of the grapes.
