Roberto Voerzio – Barolo Cerequio – 2013

Roberto Voerzio, an icon of avant-garde viticulture in the Langhe. His style is unique, his love for wine and the land have led him to produce great wines. The facts are clear, 8000 vines per hectare, super selection of the bunches, aggressive thinning, 500 grams of grapes per plant (traditionally Piedmontese winemakers harvest about 2 kilograms). The work in the vineyards is more than maniacal, his plants are immediately recognizable by their cleanliness and order, and the philosophy of using only organic products and manure for the wellness of the vines does not go unnoticed.
He founded his winery in the 1980’s by buying the best vineyards with the most beautiful expositions, producing limited quantities for each cru with an amazing and unparalleled power and structure.
Brunate, La Serra, Cerequio, Rocche dell’Annunziata and Fossati are the homonymous vineyards where he vinifies the various cru, all located in La Morra and always considered the most prestigious ones for the quality of their grapes.
The Barolo coming from the Cerequio cru has a masculine character, typical of this vineyard, one of the best in the Barolo wine panorama, thanks to its clayey soils. The wine is aged for 24 months in partially used barrique and large cask, plus 8 months in steel tanks.
In 2013 you find a gritty, austere, energetic wine with well-structured, round tannins. Great potential.
