Poderi Luigi Einaudi – Barolo Cannubi – 2014 – MG

Podere Luigi Einaudi is the historic winery founded by the first President Luigi Einaudi in the municipality of Dogliani. Despite his political activity in Rome, he never missed any harvest, and I entrust the management of his farms and vineyards to sharecroppers.
He was one of the first to bet everything on agriculture, realizing that he could lift his Piedmont home from the crisis, employing local people to manage his lands. From his death, the winery was managed by his children and grandchildren, up to today with the presence of his nephew Matteo Sardagna Einaudi. The winery has made history for having aimed high and brought to the world the typical blend of Dogliani: Dolcetto!
With the new generations, farmhouses were bought in the Barbaresco and Barolo area to produce the renowned and austere Nebbiolo in its various denominations. The style in the cellar is quite traditional, leaving room for some avant-garde techniques for cleaning and making wine, such as temperature-controlled concrete tanks.
Barolo Cannubi comes from the same parcel, a historic cru in the Barolo country, which has always been considered one of the most complex and renowned, a vineyard with two souls and two soils, where elegance and structure come together.
The winery owns two hectares and produces 12,000 bottles. The wine ages for 24 months in medium to large oak barrels.
A wine with an above average aging capacity, finesse, sweet tannins, balsamic and rosehip aromas are the characteristics of this Barolo. In this slightly cooler 2014 vintage you will find a wine that plays more on freshness and pleasantness.
