Poderi Colla – Barolo Bussia Dardi le Rose – 2009

This is one of the vineyards with the egregious expression in the Monforte d’Alba area, Bussia is a true taste example of Baroli balanced in aromas and flavors, not by chance it is one of the most extensive Cru in the entire appellation and among the most celebrated for the producers. The Colla family owns some vineyards planted in 1970 in the “Dardi le Rose” subzone, considered one of the best because of the very clayey soils and the suitable southwest exposure that guarantees the wines good propensity to age. Selection of grapes with subsequent vinification on the skins in steel tanks for 15 days, after malolactic fermentation the wine ages for 24-28 months in oak barrels. An identity Barolo from its area of origin, aromas reflecting the vineyard i.e. ripe fruit and licorice with hints of goudron, on the palate it is opulent with beautiful structure with soft, round tannins. Genuine!

Description

More than 300 years of history for the Colla family, owners and winemakers from birth enhancing every novelty that was discovered in the world of wine by perfecting and spreading the process in Piedmont, such as the processing of Moscato and Vermouth. The change of course was sealed by Pietro Colla in the early 1900s with the learning and popularization of the Champenoise method in the Langa already introduced by his father Giuseppe and also taught to Carlo Gancia becoming his main collaborator, along with selling wines abroad. Then it was the time of his son Beppe Colla, a forerunner genius of the vinification of the great reds of Langa by single vineyard since 1961, it was specified for the first time in a label the concept of Cru, also was the soul and architect of the success of the wines of the Prunotto company from 1956 to 1990 and among those who made the first drafts of the production regulations of each Denomination. Since 1994 his brother Tino together with his son and his niece Federica have united the 4 estates they own and formed Poderi Colla where the main office is located in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, and among which Tenuta Roncaglia in Barbaresco and Dardi le Rose in Bussia di Monforte d’Alba in the DOCG Barolo stand out. Full awareness in the work done in the vineyard and in the cellar, natural fertilization treatments and green harvesting, aging with the use of traditional barrels at the right times to enhance not only the grape variety but also the vintage. A life spent in the continuous pursuit of experimentation and development of others for wines that reflect true territoriality, with well-defined character and unique.
