Paul Herpe et Fils – Blanquette de Limoux Méthode Traditionnelle Brut

Produced exclusively in the areas around Limoux in Languedoc, the origins of this bubbly date back to the sixteenth century (before Champagne!) when the monks of St-Hilaire made the first refermentation in bottle. Blanquette is a traditional method bubbly produced with 90% Mauzac 5% Chenin Blanc and 5% Chardonnay grapes which grow in clayey/limestone soils with low yields per bunch and a meticulous selection. Vinification is done in steel tanks followed by fermentation on yeasts for 18 months before release. A blanc de blancs Brut dosage very expressive capable of transporting at the first taste, rich in fruity aromas ends in an elegant and fresh finish with the sole purpose of conquering the drinker.

Description

Three key words “Tradition, Loyalty and Quality” have always distinguished Maison Paul Herpe et fils. Producers and wine merchants since 1919, they are the oldest winery in LangueDoc-Roussillon, a splendid region between the Rhône River and the Pyrenees that gives us wines with a unique style. In fact this area is different from the others because of the great variety of soils within it, in a very homogeneous territory where, together with the Mediterranean climate, they favor an excellent development of vines. The Maison is located in Narbonne and owns 30 hectares of vineyards in which are cultivated varieties such as Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Mauzac with which are produced magnificent blends and local sparkling wines. Since 4 generations, traditional/modern methods are adopted both in the vineyard with minimal selections, and in the cellar with the use of barrels for the right aging periods in order to exalt every terroir for every wine.
