Paitin – Barbaresco Basarin – 2019

The Basarin vineyard is the latest purchase of Pasquero Elia family, bought in 2018 it represents the great novelty of the winery. The choice of this purchase was for the grandeur of this parcel, which is always under the municipality of Neive, but in the lowest part almost at the intersection with the municipalities of Treiso and Barbaresco. It enjoys a beautiful southern exposure and produces wines with character but with great elegance. In short, this Barbaresco holds its own against the historical Barbaresco Serraboella, but thanks to its more gentle notes, it was decided to aim at the production of a completely different wine. 40 years old vines with less than 3000 bottles produced.

Description

When talking about Paitin it is impossible not to associate this name to Barbaresco.
Paitin is one of the wineries with the most history, handed down from two centuries and owner of Serraboella vineyard since 1800, where the winery’s headquarter is still located. This area is particularly suited for the production of Nebbiolo for Barbaresco, just because it enjoys an unusual microclimate, that is soils rich in layers of blue limestone besides sand, giving wines an important and atypical structure and longevity. The approach in the vineyard is minimalist by intervening only with the use of copper and sulfur, indeed since 2015 the winery has focused on an organic approach. In the cellar, however, the style is purely traditional, with long aging in large barrels, respecting the natural time of each wine. Classic, authentic, territorial wines, where you can feel the true history and Langa. Wines that personally drive me crazy, for their longevity, austerity, class and sensuality.
