Olek Bondonio – Barbaresco Roncagliette – 2018

Olek Bondonio founded his winery in 2005 in Barbaresco in the Berchialla farmhouse, already owned by the family for 200 years. After years of study and work trips outside Italy, he decided to roll up his sleeves and make the most of the prestigious Langa area to produce artisanal, but above all traditional, wines. Thanks to his experiences, he found his style, that is to intervene as little as possible in the vineyard without the use of chemicals and also in the cellar exclusive use of indigenous yeasts, long fermentations, no filtrations and long refinements.
He produces the typical Piedmontese wines from dolcetto, grignolino, barbera, nebbiolo and Barbaresco in very small quantities, but the importance for him that they are territorial wines without frills.
Barbaresco Roncagliette comes from the vineyard of the same name, one of the most popular and prestigious in terms of location and the most clayey soils. In fact, in this cru, the one who had seen us along was Gaja! In this case the wine undergoes a fermentation on the skins for 30 days and an aging in medium-large oak barrels for 20 months. A spicy Barbaresco with notes of ripe fruit and in the mouth it has a nice texture and persistence. Elegant and structured are the keywords for this wine. Wanted.
