Description

The Murgo winery has a centuries-old history, its foundation dating back to 1860 through the donation of 30 hectares of vineyards on the San Michele Estate on the eastern side of Etna volcano by Senator Luigi Gravina to the Scammacca family. With great foresight, the family undertook work to restore the vineyards and new premises for winery use, arriving in 1980 to bottle the first Etna Rosso. The style of the winery is to produce clean, territorial wines respecting the soils with the different layers of lava, but above all the plants aiming at biodynamic agriculture. In addition, Murgo was the first winery to develop a classic method sparkling Etnean wine with native grapes such as Nerello Mascalese.
