Luigi Pira – Barolo Margheria – 2019

Barolo Margheria comes from the vineyard of the same name located in Serralunga d’Alba, it enjoys such a splendid exposure facing totally south that it is considered one of the most important and coveted cru by Barolo producers. It is particularly famous for giving wines that are austere but at the same time of great finesse and freshness, thanks to the combination of altitude and soils rich in chalky limestone. Pira’s Margheria fully reflects the characteristics of this vineyard, without forgetting its slightly modern style that gives it that appealing character. Licorice, straight vertical but well persistent tannins and great freshness are the adjectives that reflect this wine!

Description

Pira Luigi winery is located in Serralunga d’Alba, an area renowned for the power of Baroli wines.
Until the 1990’s the family sold grapes, but things changed with the arrival of Luigi’s son, Giampaolo. He decided to produce great wines, but above all Baroli, also thanks to the potential of the vineyards he owns, considered among the most famous ones of the whole Langa…such as the renowned Vignarionda, Marenca and Margheria.
His Baroli are tough, hard, spicy and above all tannic! This is thanks to the rocky limestone soils of the Serralunga area. He tries to make clean and representative wines in order to exalt every specific characteristic of each vineyard.
