La Spinetta – Barbaresco Valeirano – 2016

The story begins at the end of the seventies, when the far-sighted Giuseppe, known as Pin, together with his wife Lidia bought a farmhouse in Castagnole Lanze on the top of the “La Spinetta” hill, an area particularly suited for the production of Moscato. Both strongly believe in the potential of this grape and decide to produce the first Moscato in Italy from a single vineyard.
With the entry of the three children into the company there is a substantial change, the first red wine of the company is produced, Barbera Ca di Pian, followed by the purchase of three great crus in the Barbaresco area, Valeirano, Gallina and Starderi and obviously Barolo cannot be missing in the Garetti mention in Grinzane Cavour. The desire to get involved is not lacking, so in the 2000s the Rivetti brothers acquired Contratto, a historic Piedmontese sparkling wine house and finally the company decided to expand beyond the Piedmont borders by purchasing vineyards between Pisa and Volterra, thus producing the fantastic Sangiovese. Today La Spinetta is a company recognized worldwide for the quality and value of its wines that have always distinguished it. In 1997 the company bought the third and last cru as regards the Barbaresco area, Valeirano, which has always been considered one of the most prestigious areas of Treiso, good exposures, optimal altitudes and the soils are of marine origin similar to those of the area. of Serralunga d’Alba. A red of great value, excellent structure that does not have an immediate expression but is characterized by an incredible longevity. Buy and keep!
