Jacquesson – Champagne Cuvée n° 743

One of the oldest Maison in Champagne, it was founded in 1798 by Claude and Memmie Jacquesson, the entry of the son plays a fundamental role for the company, he puts the vineyard in rows and also patents the metal cage that blocks the cap . In the second half of the nineteenth century it is one of the 5 most important maison but falls into oblivion at the beginning of the century and is purchased in 1954 by the Chiquet family and relaunched, however, deciding to remain on a fairly limited production to be able to maintain the highest quality . 80% of the grapes used come from owned vineyards located in the Cote des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. A very traditional work in the vineyard, the most natural treatments possible precisely to enhance each parcel and fully reflect the vintage.
We are talking about 2000, a fundamental year for the style of the Maison Jacquesson, after years of study and work, the cuvées of series 7 are born, a project in which there is no longer talk of “champagne sans année” but the concept of “millesimé avec” vins de réserve ”, that is a champagne that has the characteristics of the base year with a minimal addition of the previous years. With this wine the Chiquet brothers want to best represent the expression of the vintage, so each Cuvée will be unique and unrepeatable. 743 is the expression of the 2015 vintage, the grapes were harvested ripe, healthy and with good acidity; a wine for connoisseurs, powerful on the palate, rich in pleasant sweetness in harmony with the minerality that explodes on the finish. Fabulously expressive already now but perfect to keep for a few more years.
