Jacquesson – Champagne Avize – Champ Caïn

One of the oldest Maison in Champagne, it was founded in 1798 by Claude and Memmie Jacquesson, the entry of the son plays a fundamental role for the company, he puts the vineyard in rows and also patents the metal cage that blocks the cap . In the second half of the nineteenth century it is one of the 5 most important maison but falls into oblivion at the beginning of the century and is purchased in 1954 by the Chiquet family and relaunched, however, deciding to remain on a fairly limited production to be able to maintain the highest quality . 80% of the grapes used come from owned vineyards located in the Cote des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. A very traditional work in the vineyard, the most natural treatments possible precisely to enhance each parcel and fully reflect the vintage.

Avize Champ Cain is a Champagne whose grapes come from a single Grand Cru of only one hectare in the municipality of Avize. The soil is rich in limestone, clay, sand and silt, the Chardonnay plants were planted in 1962 because the Maison immediately understood the potential of this terroir and therefore how important it was to bottle individually. Obviously a wine produced only in the best years. A memorable bottle, the pérlage is persistent and fine, structure and complexity complement each other without overwhelming the innate elegance of this champagne.
