Frerejean Frères – Champagne 1er Cru Extra Brut – 2006

Frerejean Frères is a small Champagne house, run by three brothers from the Taittinger family. The vines are all in Avize, common Grand Cru in the Cotes des Blanc, where they grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Premier and Grand Cru plots. The style that makes the company unique is that they are champagne made with a high raw material of the grapes, in fact the vines are treated with the utmost respect for the land, but above all for the long stay that the wines are on the lees, about 5-8 years.
Their 2006 vintage is 11 years old on their lees !! It is a wine that has a great drinkability and acidity and a nice persistent bubble despite being a wine of more than 10 years. But obviously, if the raw material was not of quality, don’t cut it, big bubbles will be born !!
