Franco Conterno – Langhe Nascetta del Comune di Novello – 2019

What strikes me about this winery is the linearity in the production of the wines, each grape variety is perfectly represented according to its original characteristics. Nascetta is an indigenous grape native to Novello, which has always been considered a difficult vine, totally unadaptable and problematic in terms of plant work so much so that it risked extinction in the post-war years. The Conterno family, with west-facing plants in the commune of Novello, produces less than 5,000 bottles of Nascetta, where it is vinified in steel tanks, to continue aging for 5 months in the same containers. Here we find the typical aromatic scents of the Nascetta grape variety, with nuances of green apple, well-balanced acidity and body, long persistence and a slight softness accentuated on the finish. An excellent wine for light aging!

Description

In the center of the Langhe, to be precise in Bussia fraction of Monforte, Cascina Sciulun was born at the end of the 19th century, always owned by the Conterno family, which for years has been involved in the production of wines always following a philosophy focused on the balance between man and nature. Today the winery includes 28 hectares located in the best cru for the production of Barolo, the love for the land is applied in all phases, from the vineyard to the cellar where for each type of grape the wood considered suitable is used. Franco Conterno’s wines stand out for the great pleasantness they manage to express from the very first moment.
