Enrico Serafino – Langhe Nebbiolo Picotener – 2018

The Enrico Serafino winery is one of the most historic realities of Roero and Langa, it was founded in 1878 by Enrico thanks to his passion and dream of producing great wines. He chose Canale as the headquarters of the winery, a small town located in the center of the Roero, but close enough to the Asti Langhe, Barolo and Barbaresco precisely to allow him to produce the greatest Piedmontese wines. His wines such as Barolo and sparkling wine made history, so much so that they were the first to be exported outside Europe or drunk by royalty or presidents in Italy.
Today, after more than 140 harvests, the philosophy of the cellar is always the same, that is to raise the potential and fame of our wines. In addition, the winery still continues to produce Barolo and Barbaresco thanks to a historical mandate to make wine outside the production area, and has specialized in the production of bubbles so as to be one of the first to produce the Alta Langa sparkling wine.
One of the vines that the winery has focused more on in recent years is the Picotener Nebbiolo, a clone almost totally forgotten due to low productivity. The Langhe Nebbiolo Picotener is vinified in part with the whole bunch, and aged for 12 months in large oak barrels. The vineyards are all in the municipality of Canale where the winery is located. This wine is full-bodied, with fine but long-lived tannins and intense aromas of flowers and red fruits. What a beautiful Nebbiolo!
