Conterno Fantino – Barolo Vigna del Gris – 2008

We are talking about 1982 when Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino decide to combine their knowledge and found the Conterno Fantino company, a fairly unusual choice in the Langa, where usually the wine producer is an individual job! The wines are immediately characterized by an expressive approach that consists of a rich and fruity mold.
Today there are 27 hectares of vineyards and the vines are managed organically and extend over the best crus of the entire area of Barolo, Ginestra, Mosconi, Castelletto and Bussia.
The cellar was recently renovated and is based on the use of renewable sources and techniques aimed at energy saving. The style is undoubtedly modern, but we see an evolution anyway, with a smaller, more measured contribution of wood.
Ginestra, certainly the most important cru on the eastern side of Monforte d’Alba, a majestic yet elegant strip of land from which surprisingly powerful, structured and complex wines are produced. From the Vigna del Gris, facing south-east, soils rich in silt and clay, the Conterno Fantino company produces a Barolo that will surprise you with its power and perfectly balanced tannic structure and harmonious softness.
