Claude Dugat – Gevrey Chambertin – 2015
When we talk about Gevrey Chambertin we are talking about an area where vines have been cultivated for 1400 years and today it has some of the most sensational Grand Cru parcels in the world for Pinot Noir where the bottles produced by very important cellars reflect the magnificence and elegance of this variety like nowhere else. This version is an authentic synthesis of the climat (locality) of Gevrey from which the grapes come, selected from different plots where the vines vary from 20 to 40 years of age but the soil is the real key, rich in clayey and calcareous marls. Separate vinification of the parcels with the use of indigenous yeasts in cement tanks where they remain in contact with the skins for several days, aging in French oak barriques for 12 months. Remarkable expression, the scents are typical and intense of red berries with aromatic notes that accompany a pleasant drink in which velvety tannins and a long final persistence are perceived.

Description
The Claude Dugat domain is one of those events born of small families who decided to invest all their work in the cultivation of vines without ever imagining at the beginning of producing wines that were coveted internationally over the years. The winery is located in the Cote de Nuits in Gevrey-Chambertin, an iconic name and prized area for Pinot Noir with unique and unmistakable soils, it was born in 1955 when Maurice Dugat had the opportunity to buy some vineyards dedicating himself to the production of wine at meticulous right from the start. With the good fortune of owning parcels in various Crus, including some of the most prestigious such as Charmes and Griottes Chambertin, all their vineyards are at altitudes around 200/300 meters with perfect exposures where grapes are obtained for wines of incredible finesse. Today Claude Dugat together with his wife and children, have 6 hectares of vineyards treated with extreme care in which only certified organic natural products are used, no mechanization but only the use of beasts of burden and control of yields without thinning of plants with an average age of 30 years . The style follows the traditions of Burgundy or separate vinification of the parcels to maintain an identity of the terroirs, the use of concrete tanks is used without excessive extraction in the fermentation processes and refinements of at least 12 months in oak barrels. Truly illustrious performers!
