Chiara Boschis – Barolo Via Nuova – 2017

Barolo Via Nuova comes from the assemblage of many vineyards scattered among the many communes of Barolo, Monforte and Serralunga. It takes its name from the homonymous and historical vineyard located in the Terlo cru of Barolo, where a large part of it is in fact used for the production of this wine. The wine is aged for 2 years in large and small casks and 2 years in bottle. It is an absolutely harmonious Barolo Classico, complex but at the same time pleasing to drink. Elegance and structure are the words to describe this wine!

Description

Chiara Boschis is one of the most influential female producers in the world of Barolo wine. She was one of the first female figures to expose herself to the market and to make known the greatness of the Langa territory in the world in the 80s, going against the current of the time, when the figure of the winemaker was only for men. His desire to get involved and stay in the land was so great…thanks to his friendship with the Pira family of Barolo (where unfortunately there was no heir), he finally succeeded in making his dream come true and produce his wine. The winery is located right in the center of Barolo and is named after the founder E. Pira, just to honor his figure and his precious help.
The winery produces only 40000 bottles in total among the many Barolo, Nebbiolo and Barbera wines and manages some of the best vineyards of the whole area. Chiara’s importance was because of her technique and tenacity. She was one of the first ones to understand how to use small barrels for aging creating wines, but above all softer and less angular Barolos. Great, gritty wines which made history.
