Ceretto – Barolo Brunate – 2016

From the historic Cru of Brunate, between the village of La Morra and Barolo, they make this fantastic wine as an authentic elixir of elegance and structure typical of the vineyard. In 5 hectares they own 40-year-old vineyards in splendid southern exposure where sandy soils blend with clayey parts. Selected grapes and vinified in steel tanks that are later aged in both tonneaux and large barrels for 24 months with another 24 months resting in the bottle. The result is a chameleon-like wine, floral and underbrush notes evolving into spice with minutes, a fresh but nervous drink given by direct, silky tannins for a smooth, whole finish.

Description

Since their birth in the 1800s, the Ceretto family has represented the Langhe territory in a unique and avant-garde way. Since the 1950s, Bruno and Marcello, sons of founder Riccardo Ceretto, have been the pioneers of a grand project focused on revolution and innovation without ever abandoning their roots, indeed seeking to make the potential of the territory and the Nebbiolo grape known worldwide. They were among the first in the Langhe to believe in the concept of “Cru” and select vineyards in the historically most suitable positions, undertaking the first pure vinifications, causing a stir and fame in the wine world by being called “Barolo Brothers” by the famous Wine Spectator magazine in 1986. Today their children Lisa, Roberta, Alessandro and Federico have taken over the winery, making a further qualitative leap by increasing to 160 the hectares of property cultivating Arneis, Moscato, Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo: the latter in some of the best plots such as Bricco Rocche, Brunate and Prapo’ in DOCG Barolo while Gallina and Asili in DOCG Barbaresco. Since 2015, the winery has obtained organic certification thanks to the great work of environmental conservation, natural practices in the vineyard through techniques such as the Sovescio technique, the search for the best bunches and minimal interventions in the cellar to achieve cleanliness and purity in the wines. A vocation theirs, surprising and unceasing.
