Cascina Bongiovanni – Barolo Riserva – 2013

Cascina Bongiovanni, is a small reality of Langa, located in Castiglione Falletto, in the center of the Barolo appellation, manages only 7 hectares of vineyard. The winery was founded by Giovanni Bongiovanni in 1950, and today we find his grandson Davide Mozzone to continue the family traditions. The philosophy of the farm is to produce genuine wines, paying attention to every detail both in the vineyard and in the cellar, using the same principles of organic agriculture with even some nuances of biodynamics such as the use of green manure. The aim is to produce real, territorial wines, but as clean as possible.
Very few bottles of different wines are produced in the cellar such as Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo, but the real protagonist is undoubtedly Barolo. The vineyards for the production of Barolo are mainly located in Castiglione Falletto, in the Pernanno vineyard, and a small part also in the municipality of Diano d’alba and Serralunga d’Alba.
The Barolo Riserva comes from plants older than 80 years from the different vineyards all located in Castiglione Falletto, where the soil is rich in sand. This wine is made only in the best qualitative years, carrying out a longer aging. 2013 was released on the market after 7 years of refinement! Among other things, one of the best and balanced vintages of the last 20 years! A full wine, with persistent but silky tannins and delicate aromas of red fruit and licorice. To keep.
