Burzi Alberto – Barolo Capalot Vecchie Viti – 2017

A striking wine, produced only in the best vintages, from one of the most important vineyards in the entire La Morra area, thanks to the overwhelming quality of its grapes. They come from a single estate vineyard located in the Cappallotti locality, where the oldest vines are almost 80 years old with roots that sink into the sandy soils towards the south. Rented until some time ago to Roberto Voerzio from which he obtained his famous Reserves, recognising their enormous potential, it is now vinified in purity by Alberto as the real gem of the selection. Harvested by hand with no more than 7-8 buds per vine, the grapes are fermented with submerged cap in stainless steel for 30 to 50 days, with various repassings in order to extract the noble substances from the skins. Malolactic fermentation and refinement are carried out in large 30 Hl Austrian oak casks for 24 months, followed by another 24 months of refinement in the bottle, as required by the regulations. The result is an enormous wine in the organoleptic aspects typical of the area, rich in elegance where there is a pleasant but not invasive tannic depth. First Roberto, then Alberto…a rhyme of emotions.

Description

Young and enterprising, Alberto Burzi belongs to a new generation of winemakers who have taken up the legacy of their predecessors. His story began in 2010, after graduating in oenology in Alba, when he decided to take the reins of the company, renewing its image and ideas by retracing his family roots. Located in the municipality of La Morra, in the heart of the prestigious Barolo area, the small property has 7 hectares divided into various parcels, among which Capalot stands out, one of the most important Cru in the area, with vineyards ranging from 25 to 80 years old. It immediately became known for its lively and innovative style, based on a trinitarian link between the winery, the vineyard and nature, with the utmost respect for the environment and no use of harmful elements. Maniacal attention to detail with manual harvesting and selection accompanied by modern techniques during vinification to achieve maximum quality steeped in the terroir. Wines with stories to tell, with a powerful territorial imprint, multifaceted in their elegance and innate fragrance. A true joy for wine lovers.
