Bruna Grimaldi – Barolo Badarina Riserva – 2016
Barolo Badarina Riserva is made with grapes from the Regnola vineyard, the highest part of the Badarina cru at about 400 meters above sea level. It is produced only in the best vintages, and the 2016 is one of the greatest for structure and staying power. The soils are rich in blue marls formed more than 15 million years ago giving the wines hard, intense tannins and important structure. The wine was aged in the cellar for 30 months in large casks and tonneaux, plus all the rest in bottle. The wine has just been released on the market, as I like to say it is still a little boy…great capacity for ageing. 700 bottles.

Description
Bruna Grimaldi winery was established in 1957, but only thanks to the precious contribution of Giovanni Grimaldi, in the ’60s they started producing wine and selling it in bulk. Among the first ones to focus on the quality of wine, Giovanni decides from the beginning to work in respect of vineyards and wine. Years pass by but the ethics of the winery does not change, in the vineyard there is a lot of manual work and no chemical weeding is practiced, the yields per hectare are very low in order to exalt the quality of grapes.
Today the winery is run by Bruna Grimaldi, enologist and woman of wine, together with her husband Franco and her children Simone and Martina. A purely family reality!
