Bruna Grimaldi – Barolo Badarina – 2018

The Barolo “Badarina” coming from the homonymous cru located in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba, is the historical vineyard of the family, Bruna’s mother already owned a few hectares.
Soils in this area are rich in layers of limestone and clay, therefore giving bony and tannic wines. In this Barolo, processed and aged in a traditional way, you find a wine rich in aromas, thanks also to Bruna’s feminine touch, but with great structure and pleasantness at the same time!
In 2018, the wine has great structure, but more pungent and fresh tannins, the very children of a wetter, cooler vintage. Perfect wines to drink now, but absolutely to keep for 20 years.

Description

Bruna Grimaldi winery was established in 1957, but only thanks to the precious contribution of Giovanni Grimaldi, in the ’60s they started producing wine and selling it in bulk. Among the first ones to focus on the quality of wine, Giovanni decides from the beginning to work in respect of vineyards and wine. Years pass by but the ethics of the winery does not change, in the vineyard there is a lot of manual work and no chemical weeding is practiced, the yields per hectare are very low in order to exalt the quality of grapes.
Today the winery is run by Bruna Grimaldi, enologist and woman of wine, together with her husband Franco and her children Simone and Martina. A purely family reality!
