Brovia – Barolo Villero – 2019

One of the most prized labels of the entire company, and one of the most sought-after in the market, is a real gem for the winery. The vineyards, more than 40 years old, are located in Castiglione F. in the famous Cru of the first category Villero in a magnificent south-west exposure where, thanks to its clayey soils, wines of good elegance and body are obtained. Maniacal selection of the grapes, they are fermented spontaneously with long contact on the skins in steel tanks while malolactic fermentation and refinement take place in Slavonian oak tonneaux for 24 months followed by 24 months in the bottle. In the end, the resulting wine is a total minimal expression of the terroir, typical of red fruit notes surrounded by spice, noble structure and a pronounced tannin that ends in an elegant freshness.

Description

The Brovia winery was founded by grandfather Giacinto in 1863 in Castiglione Falletto, the heart of the Barolo production area, and after a succession of generations, today we find Elena and her Spanish husband Alessandro Sanchez carrying on the name of this historic winery. The style is traditional, but with a modern and avant-garde touch: they use medium-large French oak barrels for ageing, and organic farming in the vineyard. The winery owns and produces some of the best crus in the Barolo area, such as the Grand Cru Villero in Castiglione Falletto, famous for producing silky Barolos of unparalleled elegance, the Rocche in Castiglione Falletto, famous for producing wines that are both elegant and full of character, the Brea Ca’ Mia, the only vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba with limestone soils, and the Garblet sue in Castiglione Falletto. The peculiarity of Brovia’s wines is the constant elegance and refinement… their wines are never too hard and tannic, but silky and pleasant to drink even when young.
