Ballot Millot – Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru – 2016
Genevrières is one of the most exceptional parcels for premier cru whites in the commune of Meursault. With fairly deep soils rich in stones, it gives Chardonnay of great elegance and class with slightly spicy and floral aromas.
The wine undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in barrique with natural yeasts, subsequently the wine is aged in the same casks for 12 months. After the aging the wine is aged again in steel tanks in order to give more freshness and to enlarge aromas. Wine of great structure which can give exciting results over time, wine to be kept absolutely for 20 years.

Description
Great stories enclosed in small wineries, sometimes it is hard to believe however in France it is a normal reality of which Domaine Ballot Millot is part of. Sources tell about it since 1630, always a family business, they reached the 16th generation when Philippe Ballot passed the business to his son Charles in the early 2000’s after having gained experience abroad at wineries in New Zealand and California. Growing up and literally living in contact with wine, he gradually learned the craft of winemaking, bringing important innovations in ideas and style, changing the face of the estate. Located in Burgundy in the Cote de Beaune, in the village of Meursault, it has the privilege of extending on 10 hectares among the most renowned Cru of the region where 8 hectares are cultivated with Chardonnay at Meursault and Chassagne Montrachet and 2 with Pinot Noir divided between Pommard, Volnay and Beaune. A production of 60000 bottles per year, born from a thoughtful respect for the environment, without the use of chemicals but only natural and organic elements in which the vines are the jewels to obtain grapes of rigorous quality. A mix of tradition and modernity, from manual harvesting to delicate non-invasive vinification through modern techniques where the use of used barrels is predominant. Yearly challenges to obtain among the finest wines in the world fruits of great artistic inspiration, in which there is no room for monotony.
