Antinori – Tignanello Toscana Igt – 2013

The splendor of Tuscany we can say that it is a kind of jigsaw puzzle made up of several parts that joined together create a region of absolute beauty, in the world of wine one of these parts is Tignanello. A name that thrills any wine lover, a revolutionary legend that created a crossroads between two eras when it was first produced in 1971. Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be matured in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The vineyard that gives the label its name is located in the heart of Chianti Classico divided into three sections according to variety. It is a block in the same hill where there is also the Solaia vineyard, characterized by soils mainly of marine origin in excellent exposures where the rocky components of alberese and galestro are the basis for producing a deep wine with long aging. Created with the intention of disrupting the mentality of an entire era, the process has remained unchanged to this day, high selection of the best grapes from plants over 40 years old that are pressed very gently and vinified in truncated conical tanks with the malolactic fermentation taking place in barriques, aging is carried out in French barriques for 12 months.
It was authentic magnificence, it has remained so, aromas of underbrush with spicy notes in a continuous alternation, the palate is forthright with tannins soft and enveloping at the same time in a pleasant freshness. A forerunner in its genre, a label of historic renown, a true influencer for world enology.

Description

The Antinori are one of the most historic and influential families in the Italian wine scene. Tuscany is synonymous with wine, the origin of the myth, the history of the family dates back to 1385 in Florence founded by Giovanni di Piero Antinori who devoted everything to viticulture producing wine for the nobility and beginning to export abroad. He consolidated the brand to such an extent that in the following centuries their fame in Europe was undisputed, standard-bearer of the first “Italy of wine” outside the borders, today after 26 generations it boasts production in several estates in Tuscany, the rest of the peninsula and the world with historic labels in demand everywhere. Despite their traditional origins, they have always wanted to distinguish themselves for their forward-thinking approach with an eye on experimenting with new clones or introducing international grape varieties into the territory, so much so that they created iconic labels worldwide later called “SuperTuscan” to highlight a next level in wine making with legendary names such as Tignanello and Solaia. Unmistakable premium style of only well-ripened grapes, precise winemaking of good extraction and aging in small oak barrels. Destined only to do great things, a virtue for few.
