Alberto Giacobbe – Passerina del Frusinate Duchessa – 2020

Widely spread in the Adriatic areas, Passerina grape has found an excellent expression in Latium being cultivated with more intensity thanks to its genetic resistance and aromaticity. With plantings dating back to 1978, Alberto has enhanced the properties of this grape through low yields in the bunches, fermented and aged in steel tanks for 6 months with a further 3 months rest in bottle. Fruity and floral aromas open a very pleasant wine since the first sip which ends with a lot of freshness.

Description

The history of Giacobbe’s family takes place in the inland of Latium, precisely in Paliano in the province of Frosinone in Ciociaria, an area characterized since Roman times by a very rural style. Since his grandfather in 1939 bought some vineyards on the top of San Giovenale hill, the grapes have always been sold, until they reached the 3rd generation with grandson Alberto Giacobbe who, since 2008, bottled the first label of the winery. They own 15 hectares divided between vineyards and olive groves in an area very suitable for the vine for its cool climate and sunny hills, where local varieties such as Cesanese and Passerina del Frusinate are cultivated. With work in the vineyard faithful to tradition mixed with organic practices and low yields, the bar of quality has been raised and the wines are aged in steel/cement for white wines and in wood for red wines in order to increase the characteristics of the grapes.
