Alberto Burzi – Barbera d’Alba Plaustra – 2021

Unusual expression of Barbera compared to the classics where no attempt was made to extrapolate vigor and body with the use of wood but to preserve freshness. The vineyards are in La Morra in the Santa Maria locality with a 2008 high-density planting known as Plaustra, where the low production per plant and sandy soils result in wines of great refinement. No more than 5 clusters per vine are produced, which following summer thinning yields about 1.3 kg of grapes per plant, vinification is carried out in steel tanks lasting 6 days and then aging in contact with the lees in the same containers several months. The aim is to enhance the primary sensations of the grape itself, incredible red fruit notes well marked and fresh that are found on the palate where roundness and pleasant acidity are collected. It cannot be missing from one’s table.

Description

Young and enterprising, Alberto Burzi belongs to a new generation of winemakers who have taken up the legacy of their predecessors. His story began in 2010 after graduating in oenology in Alba, when he decided to take the reins of the winery, renewing it in image and ideas by retracing his family roots. Located in the commune of La Morra, inside the heart of the prestigious Barolo area, the small property has 7 hectares divided into several parcels among which Capalot stands out, one of the most important Cru in the area, with vineyards ranging from 25 to 80 years of age. It immediately became known for its lively and innovative style that is based on the triune link cellar, vineyard and nature in which the utmost respect for the environment without the use of harmful elements prevails. Maniacal in detail with manual harvests and selection accompanied by modern techniques during vinification to achieve the highest quality steeped in terroir. Wines with stories to tell, with a powerful territorial imprint, multifaceted in elegance and innate fragrance. A true joy for wine lovers.
