Alberelli di Giodo – Carricante Terre Siciliane – 2022
In addition to the red, a white Etna is also produced, another masterful expression of the volcano, made from the most important white grape that is Carricante, an ancient Sicilian varietal with witty acidity. First vintage in 2020, only 0.4 hectares with which 2,500 bottles per year are made, distributed between the districts of Rampante and Pietrarizzo, 50-year-old sapling plants around 900 meters where there are considerable temperature excursions. Vinification of the grapes takes place in steel tanks for 20 days, after which the wine remains in contact on the fine lees for another 6 months and then rests in the bottle for an additional 10 months. This is a beautiful label, white flesh sensations with sulphurous and iodine notes, in the mouth it is fresh and assertive because of its lively acidity with a very fine minerality in conclusion. Must try!

Description
Some passions cannot be described if you are not a participant in them, Giodo was in fact born thanks to the love for Sangiovese of Carlo Ferrini, recognized worldwide as one of the best winemakers in Italy for technique and personality of wines. After arear of consulting, working at other wineries such as Tenuta San Leonardo as a winemaker, he decided that the time had finally come to fulfill his dream of producing his own wine. In 2002, after careful checks and studies of the territory, he bought a hectare of vineyard in Montalcino in the southeastern part between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Sant’Antimo facing Mount Amiata, thus crowning his great passion for wine with a new personal project that would meet his requirements. A passion also transmitted over the years to his daughter Bianca with whom he has expanded the business; nowadays, 6 hectares of Sangiovese grapes are cultivated for Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso Toscana Igt, and since 2015, vineyards of Carricante and Nerello Mascalese have been acquired in Sicily on Mount Etna for a total of 2.5 hectares from which a white and a red are made. The style of the estate is to produce wines that are balanced and simple, sustainable agriculture is practiced, low yields and maximum selection of grapes, different materials are used in winemaking such as steel, cement and ceramic, and in aging French barrels are preferred. In a nutshell, a gustatory harmony of several territories with their main grapes represented by the sympathetic homino-vine labels symbolizing the bond between man and wine. Giodo wines represent class!
