Vietti – Timorasso Derthona Colli Tortonesi – 2021
We are located in Monleale within the DOC Derthona area, a circumscribed geographical area in which the quality of the vine is expressed at stratospheric levels thanks to the peculiar climatic conditions and soils rich in limestone, here Vietti owns a few plots that have been in existence for a few years all with excellent exposure between the southeast and southwest. In order to derive multiple and expressive sensations the winery has opted for an articulated process that involves the use of multiple materials, in fact the vinifications of the grapes last 4 weeks and are carried out separately in ceramic, wooden vats and steel tanks where they then remain in contact with the fine lees 10 additional months in which repeated batonnage is carried out without the carrying out of malolactic fermentation. A very pleasant wine is obtained where the typical sensations of white fruit and flowers such as acacia can be felt, on the palate it is soft, strong from the good acidity gives that an excellent final length. Over the years hydrocarbon notes will appear for evolution and mineral notes will intensify in the drink.

Description
We are talking about the end of the 1800s, when Carlo Vietti founded the winery in the small town of Castiglione Falletto, immediately realizing the great potential that territory could have. From 1919 his son Mario began to produce the first wines. The winery’s history, however, was marked by the great winemaker Alfredo Currado, the first ever to vinify the individual vineyards individually, and in 1961 the Barolo “Rocche di Castiglione” was thus released on the market.
Today the winery is one of the most important in the entire Barolo area, in fact since 2016 it has been purchased by the American Krause Holdings, allowing the family to expand their estate while continuing to produce wines of great territoriality and value.
