Olivier Leflaive – Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles – 2013
Just opposite the Grand Cru ” Batard Montrachet ” is the premier cru Les Pucelles, where the soils are rich in clay/limestone with stony sections where small water sources reside to provide an excellent water balance. The Leflaive family planted the vines in 1955. Here the grapes are fermented in steel tanks and then malolactic fermentation in barrels, aging is done for 16 months in barrels (25% new) before bottling. A bottle of great finesse, very rich bouquet with an elegant outline, it is very vibrant but ends with a beautiful creaminess.

Description
We are in the village of Puligny-Montrachet, a tiny hamlet, but of absolute importance, here are the most exclusive and important GRAND CRUs in all of Burgundy for the Chardonnay grape variety.
The historic Leflaive family, which has always owned vineyards, was also born here. In the 1980s Olivier Leflaive, had a desire to have his own label and winery, so he began to select the best plots and then produce great wines.
The Leflaive winery today makes wine from 120 hectares of vines including 17 of its own divided among the best villages of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault, in Chablis and the Côte Chalonnaise.
The choice of grape purchasing is highly selected thanks to historic partnerships with various suppliers, where special attention is paid to vineyard work by encouraging biodynamic viticulture.
One of the world’s leading brands of Burgundy wines.
