Joh Jos Prüm – Mosel Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese – 2010

Graacher Himmelreich Spatlese (late harvest according to the German quality classification) is the Riesling produced in the single vineyard of the same name, where the soils are deep and rich in blue slate. The wine was vinified only in steel tanks after spontaneous fermentation. It presents itself as a hyper fragrant wine of apricot, light notes of hydrocarbon, cinnamon and citrus notes, in the mouth is very balanced the part of sweetness given by residual sugar and acidity. Description

Joh Jos Prum is one of Germany’s most legendary wineries. We are in Mosel, specifically in Bernkastel-Wehlen, where the combination of steep hillsides and the Mosel River create the conditions for the production of the world’s best Rieslings. The winery as we know it was founded in 1911, but for more than 400 years the Prum family has been cultivating vineyards in the best exposures mainly on free-range vines such as Bernkasteler Doctor, Graacher Himmelreich and Wehlener Sonnenuhr. The prestige of this winery is mainly due
to the production of Rieslings with residual sugar, just as German winemaking tradition dictates. Trocken wines are never made here. These are wines vinified with spontaneous fermentations only in steel tanks, precisely to fully enhance the organoleptic characteristics of each individual vineyard-bound vintage. Majestic wines, rare to find, but to be savored with delicacy and above all to be kept and preserved to fully understand the sweetness, acidity and freshness they give us over time.
