Olek Bondonio – Barbaresco Starderi – 2019

The Starderi vineyard is one of the most revalued in the last 15 years for the production of Barbaresco in the commune of Neive, thanks to the sunnier southwest facing slopes the wines tend to be more masculine. Olek produces about 5000 bottles from this parcel, with spontaneous fermentation on skins and aging in large barrels for 20 months. The result is a wine with hints of pepper, violet, dog rose, while in the mouth it is pleasing but with well persistent and crisp tannins. A wine with sweeter and more sweet hints but with a great capacity of evolution.

Description

Olek Bondonio founded his winery in 2005 in Barbaresco in the Berchialla farmhouse, already owned by his family for 200 years. After years of studies and work travels outside Italy, he decided to roll up his sleeves and make the most of the prestigious Langa territory in order to produce artisanal wines, but above all traditional ones. Thanks to his experiences he found his own style, that is to say to intervene as little as possible in the vineyard without the use of chemicals and also in the cellar using only indigenous yeasts, long fermentations, no filtrations and long aging.
He produces the typical Piedmontese wines from Dolcetto, Grignolino, Barbera, Nebbiolo and Barbaresco in very small quantities, but the importance for him is that they are territorial wines without frills.
