Rocche dei Manzoni – Barolo Big’d Big – 2013

Rocche dei Manzoni is a dynamic and avant-garde winery located in Monforte in the Langa. Born thanks to Valentino Migliorini, already owner of a starred restaurant, in the 1970s he landed in the Langa and bought a farmhouse right in Monforte d’Alba in the center of the Barolo production area. He was a rather innovative figure, he was the first to produce classic method sparkling wines with the same grapes as Champagne in a land of reds and Nebbiolo, and he was the first to bring and use French barriques for the refinement of wines. Over the years he manages to cultivate 50 hectares all located in the municipality of Monforte divided into the best vineyards with the best exposure.
From the famous bubbles such as Riserva Elena and Brut zero, to the full and soft Barolos, the wines of the Rocche dei Manzoni winery have contributed to the Renaissance history of Langa wines and above all of quality.
Barolo Big’d Big comes from the Mosconi cru, one of the most renowned in the municipality of Monforte due to its southern position and complex soils rich in clay and limestone, giving birth to a wine of character, austere with structured tannins.
In this case, the wine undergoes an aging in barrique and in concrete for the last part and looks like a great Barolo, soft and powerful.
